The consultation room at the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ) in the Gaspé is once again open to the public after being closed since mid-August when heavy rain and flooding caused damage.
Although the archival centre suffered a significant amount of damage, the majority of the records remained safe and dry. Documents that had been damaged by water were sent to Quebec City where they were frozen to prevent mold, and then later restored.
