If your ancestors lived in Germany, the My German Roots newsletter may help you with your family history research.
Published quarterly by the German special interest group of the Alberta Genealogical Society’s Edmonton Branch, the newsletter is available to read online. So far, 16 issues are available, with the last one being the February 2017 edition.
Each newsletter is easy to open, browse, and read on a computer or mobile device, provided you have installed Adobe Reader.
Former branch president John Althouse said, “Most of the German people in Alberta are Germans from outside Germany. … Since the Second World War a good number of Germans displaced by the re-drawing of European map have made Edmonton home as well as more Germans from Germany itself.”
If I had to make one suggestion to the special interest group, it would be to list the table of contents for each issue on the web page. At times, I lost track of where I had found a particular article in My German Roots, and all the hyperlinked titles look similar.
You will find the newsletters in Special Interest Groups section on the branch’s website. Click on Germany to open the page with the newsletters.
Hi Gail,
Great tip! I had no idea of their SIGs and the publications. Shared just now on our Society’s Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/eegsociety/posts/1575433202468429
Looking forward to reading your newsletters. Most interesting!
