LAC’s WWI service file digitization project reaches ‘Nelles’

M’m! M’m! Good!  — M’m! M’m! Done!

If you don’t have an ancestor whose name begins with the letter M, you’ve probably been impatiently waiting for Library and Archives Canada to finish digitizing the Ms in the WWI Canadian Expeditionary Force service files. For seven months — since last September — LAC staff have been working their way through the files of the soldiers whose name began with the letter M.

Great news. They have finished the Ms and reached the name Nelles.

LAC’s goal is to digitize all 640,000 service files, and has so far completed 427,641.

When searching the WWI service file database for digitized records, select Yes next to Digitized File. This will help narrow down your search.
