The University of Alberta is offering the online course, Indigenous Canada, and it is free to audit. The course explores Indigenous histories and contemporary issues in Canada. Topics include the fur trade, land claims and environmental impacts, political conflicts and alliances, and contemporary Indigenous art.
Genealogists with Indigenous ancestry and fur traders in their family tree may be especially interested.
This beginner-level course lasts 12 weeks, requiring three to five hours per week. Each module includes video lectures, course notes, and required and recommended reading.
