Alberta Canada 150 grant for non-profit organizations

The Alberta Canada 150 Grant is a program that could possibly benefit genealogy and historical societies, but finding the right project may prove to be a challenge. The program supports projects to help create lasting memories of our nation’s milestone, and heritage organizations in Alberta would do well to review the eligibility criteria.

canada150-logoThe grant program will provide $2 million to support projects that align with at lease one of the four themes of the Federal Canada 150 program:

  1. Diversity, inclusion and the building of common interests and relationships.
  2. Supporting efforts towards reconciliation of indigenous and non-indigenous Canadians.
  3. Engaging and inspiring youth to carry forward the legacy of Canada 150.
  4. Connecting Canadians with nature and raising environmental stewardship to the level of national consciousness.

At first glance, engaging and inspiring youth appears to be the best fit for genealogy and historical organizations.

Funding priorities go to small and medium-sized non-profit organizations. The maximum funding request is for $25,000.

Deadlines to apply are the 15th of every month until October 15, 2017. Funded projects must be completed by the end of the year.

Funding criteria and the application form are available on the Alberta Canada 150 Grant web page.
