If you want to speak Irish, here’s your chance — especially if you live near Kingston.
Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and Harp of Tara Branch offer their annual Irish language immersion weekend in Kingston, from April 22 to April 24.
It is open to all ages and all levels, from beginner to cainteoir dúchais. The only requirement is a desire to learn and a willingness to speak Irish at all times to the best of your ability.
You will have the opportunity to learn from four visiting Irish language professors from Ireland, who are currently teaching at Canadian universities under the Ireland Canada University Foundation. Classes are offered at seven levels.
You are encouraged to bring your musical instruments, stories and songs for the siamsa on Friday night, and session and céilí mór on Saturday night.
All meals are included from Friday dinner to Sunday brunch.
Check-in time is from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m., Friday April 22, at the Senior’s Centre, 56 Francis Street, Kingston. The full-package cost is $220, including accommodation at the Peachtree Inn and meals, which seems like a pretty good deal. The early bird rate ends April 1.
