March is National Women’s History Month in the United States, United Kingdon, and Australia, and Lisa Alzo provides us with lots of inspiration to write about our “fearless ancestors” in her blog post, Fearless Females Blogging Prompts: Returning for Another Year to Celebrate Women’s History Month.
While these prompts are directed at bloggers, anyone can particpate.
To help you start, Ms. Alzo lists 31 prompts, one for each day of the month, starting with this one:
Do you have a favorite female ancestor? One you are drawn to or want to learn more about? Write down some key facts you have already learned or what you would like to learn and outline your goals and potential sources you plan to check.
Other prompts include writing about how your grandparents met, a female ancestor who worked, a brickwall ancestor, an heirloom you inherited, and a favourite recipe.
In Canada, we celebrate Women’s History Month in October, which corresponds with the celebration of Persons Day on October 18. This means we have seven months to prepare or we can get an early start on writing about some of the often-forgotten women on our family tree.
Canadian blogger Lorine McGinnis Schulze already got a head start yesterday with her blog post, Woman of Courage Sarah Elvery Stead.
