Library and Archives Canada (LAC) has digitized 231,540 of 640,000 files of its Soldiers of its First World War: 1914–1918 database.
The latest box digitized is Box 3789 and surname Greenaway.
LAC is digitizing the service files systematically, from box 1 to box 10686, which roughly corresponds to alphabetical order. You are reminded, however, that “over the years the content of some boxes has had to be moved and, you might find that the file you want, with a surname that is supposed to have been digitized, is now located in another box that has not yet been digitized.” As example, some of my Young ancestors’ files were digitized and available several months ago.
Thanks gail for mentioning that YOUNG CEF files were done even though they were only up to G in the alphabetical listing of the files. I will search them now.
I am also a YOUNG descendant. Here is my line on Wiki Tree – http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Young-6864 .
Just follow the maternal Young line back to Adam and Catharine Young of the Mohawk Valley in the revolution days. The line goes back farther to the Palatine Region in Europe on the site. It would be interesting to know if your YOUNGs are the same line.
I’ll take a look at your tree. I noticed your name and wondered if we have a connection. My Youngs are from Perth and Aberdeen, Scotland.
