Every few days, I try to browse the new links on Cyndi’s List, and this week I came across the Acadian Memorial website that contains a genealogy section and database, Ensemble Encore – Together Again — the online scholarly research by Dr. Carl Brasseaux regarding Acadian exiles in Louisiana.
The database is described as the world’s most comprehensive source of biographical information about the Acadian exiles who migrated to Louisiana.
Ensemble Encore contains the following sections: Family Names, Essays (about Acadian immigration and adaptation), Life Lines, Land Grants, Cajun Roots, Maps, Glossary, Guide to Sources, and Bibliography.
If you want to see what biographical information is contained in the database, but do not have any Acadian ancestors, try searching for LeBlanc.
The actual Acadian Memorial is in St. Martinville, Louisiana, and it has several attractions, such as the Wall of Names, deportation cross, and museum.
You can access the Acadian Memorial website here. Cyndi’s List is available here.
