Books to inspire you to research and write your own family history

Gena Philibert-Ortega, an instructor at the National Institute for Genealogical Studies, has put together a list of books that are good summertime reading and that will help us “get ideas for 〈our〉 own family history research.”

I am glad to see she included one of my favourites, Ami McKay’s The Birth House that takes place in an isolated village in Nova Scotia in the early 20th century.

You can read Ms. Philibert-Ortega’s list of recommended reading on her blog post, Reading List for Telling a Story, on the National Institute for Genealogical Studies blog.
