Legacy Family Tree Webinars launches ‘Down Under’ series

Legacy Family Tree Webinars announced yesterday the addition of a new webinar channel specifically for genealogists in Australia and New Zealand — and the webinars can be enjoyed from anywhere in the world.

The Down Under series will be broadcast live the first Wednesday of every month at noon Sydney, Australia time, which is 8:00 p.m. Eastern time the day before.

The webinar series has been created to “recognize the importance of Australian and New Zealand genealogists and to provide live genealogy education in a more convenient local time zone.” The line-up of presentations, however, is not limited to genealogy research in those countries.

While the Down Under series is geared toward the southern hemisphere, anyone is welcome to attend either the live session or the replay afterwards. The webinars will permanently be available on-demand to Legacy Family Tree Webinars subscribers. All webinar recordings will have closed captioning for the hearing impaired.

The new channel features both well-known Australian and New Zealand educators, as well as American and English genealogists. The speakers for the 2019 series are Helen Smith, Carol Baxter, Jill Ball, Fiona Brooker, Cyndi Ingle, Thomas MacEntee, Blaine Bettinger and Paul Milner.

Topics in the new series range from Australian cemetery records to the British parish chest, as well as technology and DNA.

“With 30 million people combined between Australia and New Zealand and the challenging time difference between there and elsewhere, we felt we really needed to do something unique and special for genealogists Down Under,” said Geoff Rasmussen, founder and host of Legacy Family Tree Webinars. “Genealogists in Australia and New Zealand will now have regular access to monthly live genealogy education with top notch regional and international experts, and not have to wake up in the early hours of the night to attend.”
