Nova Scotia Archives adds almost 30,000 birth, marriage and death records online

The Nova Scotia Archives has added 28,124 historical vital statistics on its website.

These records were released December 31, 2017 and since then have been digitized, fully indexed, and checked for quality control. This year’s accruals include 14,568 births (1917), 6,880 marriages (1942) and 6,676 deaths (1967). As usual, the birth records include some delayed entries for individuals born in 1917 (or earlier) but not registered until a later date.

If you are curious to know why it takes six months to digitize vital stats, take a look at the Archives’ blog post.

WOW, what a good read the blog post is by NSARM! My husband and I have spent many hours in the NS Archives and also use these records remotely and they are a wealth of information for sure.
