Images from Saturday’s scan-a-thon at BAnQ now on Wikimedia Commons

During Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec’s scan-a-thon on International Archives Day this Saturday with Wikimedia Canada, almost 200 images were digitized and made available online.

The 196 images digitized at BAnQ’s centre in Old Montreal are from the Massicotte collection and they have been uploaded to Wikimedia Commons.

It appears that all of the photos scanned Saturday are in the public domain.

Édouard-Zotique Massicotte was a journalist, poet, historian and archivist who collected photos, postcards, illustrations, and newspaper clippings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

Another 44 images, previously digitized, are available on Wikimedia Commons on the Édouard-Zotique Massicotte page. More than 6,000 images Mr. Massicotte collected are also available on the BAnQ website.
