CanadianHeadstones announces improved search and submission features

Jim McKane, founder and webmaster of CanadianHeadstones.com, announced the release of a completely new platform for the website, following two years of development. This re-build will include many new options and features that will “vastly improve the website for everyone.”

The new site is a completely new approach to searching, submitting, and editing.

To assist users with learning the new processes, a group of detailed new Help pages has been created. These pages should help “ease the pain of conversion for experienced users.”

Some of the new features:
• all of Canada & Armed Services in one database
• ability to submit several photos at one time
• re-sizing of photos will no longer be required
• ability to add several photos to one record, i.e., a family plot or four sides of a stone
• a special cemetery record page with details about each cemetery.

CanadianHeadstones.com will be offline from 10:00 p.m. Eastern time, Tuesday, October 3 until the morning of Saturday, October 7 as they install the new platform.

CanadianHeadstones.com is a Canadian federal not-for-profit Corporation whose object is to gather, archive, publish and disseminate genealogical, historical data or other records of interest to family historians, genealogists or other researchers.

In early September, the Ontario Genealogical Society announced it had assumed responsibility for the CanadianHeadstones website and the operation of the corporation.
