Thomas MacEntee’s article about what genealogy speakers should do if they must cancel a speaking engagement at the last minute includes sound advice about how a society should prepare in case a speaker is unable to deliver a lecture at a scheduled event.
In the June issue of the Genealogical Speakers Guild’s online newsletter, Speak!, Mr. MacEntee explains what happened when an emergency forced him to cancel five lectures during a two-day period in April.
While the article is written primarily for speakers, genealogy societies will benefit by learning what an event planner did ahead of time to make sure the show went on. Mr. MacEntee also outlines what should be included in a cancellation clause in a speaking agreement.
