So, you’ve received your DNA results and looked at your matches. What’s next?
If I owned a megaphone, I would scream, “Upload your DNA results to GEDmatch — now!
Please.
It’s free.
More importantly, GEDmatch increases your chances of finding a match because you are fishing in a bigger pond. It provides access to matches from other companies, such as FamilyTreeDNA, AncestryDNA, and MyHeritageDNA.
How to upload to GEDmatch
In her excellent blog post, Dear Cousin, We Have a DNA Match, Now What?, Cathy Meder-Dempsey explains in a few steps with illustrations how to set up a GEDmatch account and how to transfer DNA raw data from AncestryDNA.
If you have never uploaded to GEDmatch, it may take you five to do so — at the most — because of the short learning curve. The next time will take you less than a minute.

Merci beaucoup, Gail. I appreciate your sharing my post. Good luck with your matches uploading to GEDmatch!
Uploading to Gedmatch is a must, and also Gedmatch Genesis for certain DNA kits data from companies previously not compatible with GEDmatch. Now I just need to hang out with someone who is savvy and knows more about this than I do.
