Join Ontario Ancestors with an existing member — and you both save 50% on membership

If interested in joining Ontario Ancestors, also known as the Ontario Genealogical Society, or renewing your membership — and saving 50 percent — you should look for a genealogy friend with whom you can partner.

From November 1 to December 15, you can take advantage of the society’s Grow Our Family Program that gives new and existing members 50 percent off their annual society membership fee.

If I recall correctly, when a member partners with a new member, the existing member must renew first. Then the new member can join.

Membership benefits include:

  • Being a member of the largest genealogical society in Canada.
  • Free access to MyHeritage Library Edition from the comfort of your own home.
  • Connecting with regional research specialists and thousands of unique local records and resources by joining their Branches and Special Interest Groups.
  • Access to thousands of records including the IOOF Insurance Application collection and over 3,000 family histories.
  • Hundreds of e-learning resources including webinars, almost 60 years of Families, and numerous member benefits from partners.
  • Discounts on the annual conference.

The pre-discount annual membership fee is $63. Membership fees for the branches are very modest.

My dance card is already full.
A friend contacted me last week to ask if she could join with me.

If looking for a partner, post a comment in one of the Ontario Ancestors Facebook groups or post on the Genealogy à la carte group. You’ll first need to join the group. In previous years, Ontario Ancestors has matched people together, so you could also try sending them an email.

Anyone who joins before November 30 will automatically be entered in a draw to win a prize.
