If your ancestors lived in Alberta and you are the keeper of their records, you may want to consider donating part of your family archives to the Provincial Archives of Alberta.
This week, the provincial archives issued a call on Facebook for records of everyday life. They are looking for “personal records that provide insight into the interests, occupations, and lives of individuals, and business records that reflect the way organizations develop and grow.”
Some examples of the these records might include:
• Photographs
• Home movies, films and videos
• Diaries, scrapbooks and journals
• Meeting minutes
• Legal agreements
• Correspondence
• Architectural plans
• Maps
On its website, the provincial archives says, “While the records of extraordinary people or leaders can be thrilling to discover, it is the records of everyday life that can be the most valuable to historians and researchers seeking to understand the history of a community.”

I suspect many provincial archives share a similar interest in everyday records.
