Archives of Ontario signs agreement with FamilySearch

In its weekly e-newsletter, the Ontario Genealogical Society reported that the Archives of Ontario has signed an agreement with FamilySearch that is good news for genealogists.

The Archives of Ontario successfully signed a licencing agreement with Family Search International (FSI) to make available online several years of historical Ontario vital statistics records previously available only on microfilm. Starting May 30, 2015, the following records will be available online through the FSI website for free:

Births: 1869-1910
Marriages: 1869-1927
Deaths: 1869-1937

To access the digital records, consult the Family Search website at https://familysearch.org. Please note that the microfilmed vital statistics records are still available in the Archives of Ontario Reading Room and through Interlibrary Loan.
