National Library of Ireland’s Catholic parish registers to go online July 8

Claire Santry has posted good news on her blog, Irish Genealogy News, about July 8 when the National Library of Ireland will make its collection of Catholic parish register microfilms freely available online on a dedicated website.

I love her opening paragraphs:

Never mind all the summer wedding dates, here’s the only REALLY important Save the Date of the year: Wednesday 8 July.

That’s the day the National Library of Ireland will be launching its new free website holding almost 400,000 images of Catholic parish register microfilms. It will be the culmination of a three-year digitisation project.

I’ve taken note in my calendar. Read Ms. Santry’s blog to learn more.
