Last year, after I wrote Books about the Irish in Quebec and More books about the Irish in Quebec, the library manager at Quebec City’s Morrin Centre, Jessica Kelly-Rhéaume, sent two titles from their collection to add to our reading list.

Charbonneau, André. 1847 Grosse Île: A record of daily events. Quebec: Canadian Heritage/Parks Canada, 1997.

O’Gallagher, Marianna. The Shamrock Trail: Tracing The Irish In Quebec City. Sainte-Foy, Quebec: Livres Carraig Books, 1998.

Thanks, Jessica.

Catastrophe naturelle ou génocide???? Les asiles de pauvres!
Comme la déportation des Acadiens ou les camps de concentration!!!

The English exported food from Ireland, as the peasants starved!

Les Anglais exportent la nourriture de l’Irlande et les paysans crève de faim! Extermination! À 25 min.
