Library and Archives Canada continues to make progress on its project to digitize all 640,000 WWI service files, although the digitization rate has dropped substationally. This month, almost 10,000 files were digitzed and posted online — but this is less than half the amount posted in mid-December. Perhaps vacations during the Christmas/holiday period contributed to the slowdown.
As of yesterday, January 15, 2015, 110,260 files were available in LAC’s Soldiers of the First World War: 1914-1918 database. (Click on Search: Database in the left-hand margin.)
When searching for digitized files, remember to select Yes next to Digitized File. (See graphic below.)
