Savoir faire — Alberta Genealogical Society launches new website

The Alberta Genealogical Society has launched a new website, and I like what I see. The site has a clean, professional look, and navigating through it is easy to do.

I especially like that Become a Member is front and centre on the home page. After all, a genealogical society’s number one consumer product is membership. Without a large, supportive membership, there is no society.

Featured in the rotating banner acros the top of the page are the society branches, library, cemetery database, Alberta homestead index, and news and events.

Kudos to the Alberta Genealogical Society. They have know-how.

    Hello Gail,

I am Acting editor of the AGS quarterly journal, Relatively Speaking. The AGS Edmonton Branch president brought to my attention your blog with such positive comments about the new website. Are you an AGS member? May I please have your permission to quote you in the May issue of RS?

I look forward to hearing from you,

    Marilyn Hindmarch

Yes, you may quote me. I am not an AGS member, but I am the webmaster for the British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa, and for that reason, I am always looking for good genealogy websites to inspire me.

    Hi Gail,
Lyn Meehan, Communications for Alberta Genealogical Society (AGS). Thank you for your wonderful remarks about the AGS website. It was an intense six-month project and still going strong, but having great fun. Would you mind if we place a page on the AGS website with your quote, linking back to your blog? Thanks soooooo much for the praise! Lyn
