National Archives virtual genealogy fair begins Tuesday

Tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday will be your chance to attend a genealogy conference for free and from home. The National Archives in Washington, DC will host its second Virtual Genealogy Fair from October 28 to 30. The live broadcasts begin each day at 10:00 a.m. Eastern time — and will be available for free on YouTube. No need to register. No need to download software. You will be able to watch the live video stream on YouTube.

NARA conference 2014While most of the presentations focus on American genealogy research, there are still a couple on more general topics, such as an introduction to genealogy and preserving documents, and there is lots to learn from the other presentations as well. Handouts are expected to be available before the presentations.

Is there a downside to attending a virtual genealogy conference? Uh… yes. No free pens.
