WWI Roll of Honour at Tower of London

Poppies_FB_croppedThe Tower of London is commemorating the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War. The Last Post will be played at sunset over the moat that is being progressively filled with 888,247 poppies  – one for every death in the British forces in the First World War.

Names from the Roll of Honour will be read at 7:25 p.m. from September 1 to 30, at 6:25 p.m. from October 1 to 25, and at 4:55 p.m. from October 26 to November 10.

You can nominate a member of the Commonwealth forces who was killed in the First World War to have their name read out at the Tower in a nightly ceremony. Submit your nomination on the online Roll of Honour form.

During WWI, Canadians suffered 64,990 casualties.
