OGS hosts four virtual presentations on topics that include FamilySearch and New France

As usual, there’s good variety among the four virtual presentations branches of the Ontario Genealogical Society will host this week. All are free and open to the public.

Tuesday, January 20, 2:00 p.m. — Sudbury District Branch
Greater Sudbury Museums: Where we started, and where we’re going by Samantha Morel and Eleethea Savage

Greater Sudbury Museums staff members Eleethea Savage and Samantha Morel will share some of the institutional history of the four community museums under their umbrella as well as the findings of our recent strategic planning process, which has been many years in the making. FamilySearch: Review & What’s New by Clare Muehlbauer

Thursday, January 22, 7:00 p.m. — Ottawa Branch
Epic Tales From New France: Dawn and Carol’s Greatest Hits by Dawn Kelly and Carol Ufford

Tales of murder, witchcraft and mayhem are in store. We’re talking “Hoe Murderers” and the tale of the only woman to be gibbeted by the British. Along the way, Carol and Dawn will reveal some of the vast resources that genealogists with French-Canadian ancestors can find online. Register to watch online.

Finding the Records for Impossible Genealogy: Lessons Learned from a Chinese Canadian Genealogist by Linda Yip
