BIFHSGO’s virtual conference, ‘Researching the Disadvantaged of England and Wales,’ takes place in two weeks

If you have English or Welsh ancestry and/or ancestors who struggled in poverty or lived in a mental institution, you may want to attend the British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa’s (BIFHSGO) annual virtual conference that will take place on October 18 and 19.

The theme of the conference is Researching the Disadvantaged of England and Wales and BIFHSGO has invited nine expert speakers. In their presentations, you’ll learn about early poor relief methods, the Poor Law, mental institutions and the workhouse, and how affected individuals and their society faced these predicaments.

The conference fee is $35 for members and $50 (US$35) for non-members. It includes access to the presentation videos and handouts until November 30.

Learn more about the conference program, schedule and speakers on BIFHSGO’s website.
