‘Unusual Scottish sources for family history’ — New video from the International Institute of Genealogical Studies

Do you have Scottish ancestors and 25 minutes to learn about online resources for researching them? If you do, you’ll want to check this out.

The International Institute of Genealogical Studies recently posted the video, Unusual Sources for Your Family History, about researching Scottish resources, on its YouTube channel. The presentation is delivered by Morag Peers, the institute’s Director of Scottish Studies.

trove.scot is a new platform that brings together Historic Environment Scotland’s wealth of unique and diverse collections in one place.

Resources discussed during the presentation include trove.scot — “The key to Scotland’s past,” Mitchell Digital Archive, maps on National Library of Scotland’s website, ScotlandsPeople, kirk session minutes, FIBIS — Families in British Empire, and valuation rolls.

I hadn’t heard of trove.scot until I watched this video. It went online in the spring and is worth a look.
