When I read Findmypast’s blog post about the latest additions to their website, I almost didn’t start this blog post and I could easily have skipped eating dinner
It was hard to resist the temptation, but I finally pulled myself away to share the news here.
Here’s what Findmypast added to their website this week.
England Directories
Findmypast’s new collection, England Directories, consists of more than 10 million transcriptions and images, spanning the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries.
During the first five minutes of my research, I wasn’t able to find my people in part because they were just regular folks in their town. What I did find, however, were wonderful descriptions of the towns where some of my ancestors lived in the 19th century.

Jersey, Huguenot Abjurations 1685-1815
This new record set documents the lives of Huguenots that settled on the Channel Island of Jersey, between 1685 and 1815. The Huguenots were a Protestant group that fled France from the 18th century to escape persecution.
Britain, Royal and Imperial Calendars 1767-1973
Findmypast also added 4,395 browse-only images to their collection of British calendars.
Now, I must go. There are some English directories to explore.
