GRO England and Wales increases prices of birth, marriage and death records

If you’ve delayed ordering civil birth, marriage or death records for England and Wales from the General Register Office (GRO), you may be kicking yourself.

The GRO, which holds the records from 1837 when civil registration was introduced, has increased the price of the documents.

Instead of charging £2.50 (CDN$4.36) for a digital image of a record, the GRO now charges £3 (CDN$5.23). Fortunately, it’s not a huge increase.

See the full list of old and new prices, including for PDFs and certificates, in the Who Do You Think You Are? Magazine article by Rosemary Collins.
