Glengarry Highland Games start Friday

Tomorrow and Saturday, the sound of bagpipes will be heard throughout Maxville, Ontario, and it will be coming from the Glengarry Highland Games. Every year since 1948, thousands attend this event of music, dance, sports, pipers, and fiddlers.

Maxville is a small farming community not far from Montreal, Ottawa, and Kingston — and only 30 minutes north of the Canada-US border crossing at Cornwall. Glengarry County is historically known for its settlement of Highland Scots due to the Clearances.

Admission to the Games is $20 per person. Visit the Glengarry Highland Games website to learn more.
