Free webinar — Genealogy and Indigenous Identity

As part of its Métis Project, the Société généalogique du Nord-Ouest in Edmonton will host the free webinar, Genealogy and Indigenous Identity, presented by Jean Teillet, on Monday, May 1, at 7:00 p.m. Mountain time.

Ms. Teillet specializes in aboriginal rights litigation and negotiations. She maintains an active role as a public speaker and primarily speaks on aboriginal rights, access to justice, identity and equality issues. She is published in many journals and law books and is the author of the annually updated Métis Law in Canada. She is also an adjunct professor at the UBC Faculty of Law and Ms. Teillet wrote the book, The Northwest is Our Mother, in 2019. In her book, she describes how the Métis nation was created in a very unfriendly environment and later dispersed in western Canada. 

The webinar will be delivered in English and is open to all who register.
