To celebrate its 90th anniversary, the City of Vancouver Archives (CVA) is highlighting different record groups from the archives’ holdings in a social media campaign.
CVA is sharing 90 days of posts, from March 15 to June 12, using the hashtag, #VanArchives90th.
The posts will range from various city record series to the diverse groups of private-sector fonds and collections.

CVA was founded by city archivist Major James Skitt Matthews in 1933. It was the first municipal archives in English-speaking Canada.
The archives’ mandate is to acquire and preserve city records, but it also stores records from families, sports groups, businesses, and cultural organizations.
The archival collection can be searched online. Descriptions provide the copyright status, and many images are in the public domain.
You can follow the daily 90th anniversary posts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
