The Genealogical Association of Nova Scotia yesterday opened registration and launched the website for its first virtual conference that will take place April 22 and 23.
The Nova Scotia Genealogy Virtual Conference offers 10 presentations, a panel discussion on the future of Nova Scotia genealogy, and a brick wall breaker session for those who register before March 18.
The presentations are varied, but with a focus on Nova Scotia and delivered by several well-known speakers:

Ed Brumby — Tracing Men of 71st Highland Regiment: Scotland to Nova Scotia
Peggy Homans Chapman — Nova Scotia Genealogy 101
Dr. Jonathan Fowler — Detecting and Mapping Unmarked Cemeteries
Tim Gay — On-going Projects, Genealogical Association of Nova Scotia
Paul Milner — Tracing Your Pre-WWI British Soldier: Lessons for Nova Scotia
Joanne McCarthy O’Leary — Newspaper Obituaries in Nova Scotia
Susan McClure — Genealogical Resources at Halifax Municipal Archives
Dr. Ken Paulsen — Inheritance Practices in 18th Century Lunenburg

The registration fee is reasonable, especially for association members. It’s only $29 for members and $49 for non-members. Annual association membership is $39.
Registrants will have access to the presentation records for 60 days afterward.
