The Toronto Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society will host two presentations during its free monthly meeting of the year today, January 23, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Eastern time.
The main speaker Rick Hill made a wonderfully fruitful discovery when building out his family tree. He came across a 3rd great-grandmother with not just one, but three grandparents who were United Empire Loyalists. What’s more, she had a Loyalist great-grandfather as well! Rick’s newfound UEL ancestors all fled Pennsylvania during the American Revolutionary War, and three of them ended up in York Township and the Town of York. Join us as Rick shares some of their stories in Living in Interesting Times: Two Loyalist Families in York Township, Upper Canada.
The evening will begin with a short presentation by Carol Ufford on a remarkable thirty-year research adventure. You won’t want to miss From No Story to a Life Story—Breaking Down a Brick Wall.
If the weather cooperates, this will be a hybrid meeting. You may join in person at Lansing United Church at 49 Bogert Avenue in north Toronto, near the Sheppard subway station. Or you can watch the presentation live online via Zoom. Learn more and register for the online presentation here.
