Genealogy programs on PBS — Your DNA Secrets Revealed and Finding Your Roots

Keep your eyes open for a TV special on PBS, called Your DNA Secrets Revealed, about the science of DNA and the role genetics plays in our longevity and well-being.

Genetic genealogist Diahan Southard will host the program that premieres Saturday, November 26 on PBS stations across the US, and some of those stations can be picked up in Canada.

The program will include interviews with noted biologists and researchers and explain why genealogical science is critical to understanding who we really are, and how it can help us make smarter, more informed choices about our health.

On social media, some wrote that it will air in their area on December 3. In my neck of the woods, I’ve yet to see it listed, but I continue to check.

Viewer’s story to be featured on Finding Your Roots
Henry Louis Gates, Jr. tweeted earlier this week that for the first time in the history of Finding Your Roots, they’re looking for a viewer to join the lineup for season 10. He wrote, “We want to hear about your family’s genealogical mystery that needs help solving.”

They’re looking for someone who has a family mystery that they want the Finding Your Roots team to solve.

To be eligible, you must be 21 years or older and reside in the United States. To learn more about how to enter your name, visit findingyourrootscasting.com. You’ll need to upload a brief two to three-minute video telling them why you should be chosen to appear on the series.
