BIFHSGO’s virtual conference is fast approaching

In less than three weeks the British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa (BIFHSGO) will hold its second annual virtual conference. It will run from September 28 to October 2.

There are 12 expert speakers, including Dave Annal, Mia Bennett, Gill Blanchard, Janet Few and Paul Milner, who will discuss topics of specific interest to those researching English and Welsh ancestors, as well as presentations of general interest, such as using maps in genealogy, what life was like for the poor before workhouses, and reasons for migration.

Registrants will be able to watch the presentation recordings until October 31.

You can preview the talks by watching the short videos, In their own words, that the speakers have provided.

The Expo Hall now includes 44 entities: archives, bloggers, genealogical and historical
societies, services, and vendors — some of whom will be offering attractive door prizes to
registrants.

Last year’s successful Connect sessions return to provide registrants with an opportunity to interact with others in small groups via Zoom to talk about the conference themes and genealogy resources.

There’s also a special offer for registrants. If you purchase a 2023 BIFHSGO membership during the conference, you can save 10 percent on the regular fee of $50.

As for the cost to attend the conference, a registration pass is only CDN$40.
