Findmypast flash sale — 50% off all 1921 England and Wales Census purchases

Findmypast is offering its members 50 percent off record purchases of the 1921 Census of England and Wales for four days — from today until midnight BST, Monday, August 29 (7:00 p.m. Eastern time).

Mary McKee, head of Content Publishing at Findmypast, said, “With this four-day sale, I’m very pleased that even more budding family historians and genealogists will have the chance to connect with their ancestors. It’s the perfect weekend activity.”

In line with the 1920 Census Act, the 1921 Census was released exclusively online at Findmypast in January, in partnership with The National Archives and the Office for National Statistics. The project involved three years of intensive digitization and conservation work, and was the largest digitization project ever to be completed by The National Archives and Findmypast. This effort means these precious records were brought online for the first time, unlocked after 100 years, and can be accessed from home exclusively via Findmypast.

The 1921 Census is the last major census release for England and Wales for 30 years. The 1931 Census was destroyed in a fire and the 1941 Census was not taken due to the Second World War. As per the Census Act, the 1951 Census will be released in 2052.

Findmypast encourages their members to share the stories of mysteries solved by the 1921 Census by emailing discoveries@findmypast.com.
