Ontario’s first-ever celebration of its founders will take place May 20 to 22, in Cornwall.
The 1784 festival will honour culture from the three founding groups of Ontario: the Mohawks of Akwesasne, the United Empire Loyalists, and French Canadians.
This free event will take place at Lamoureux Park, starting at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20.
More than 26 organizations will set up in 40 booths at the fair.
There will also be an historical re-enactment of the Loyalists’ camp when they first arrived in Canada, with 140 reenactors from Quebec and Ontario.
Genealogy societies will be present to conduct research for French Canadians, Loyalists, and Iroquois.
Events will be held in English, French and the language of the Mohawk people.
