MyHeritage yesterday announced the 1950 US Census records for Alaska, New Hampshire, and the US Virgin Islands have been indexed — and they are free to search and view on their website.
This is in addition to the indexed records for Delaware, Vermont, Wyoming and American Samoa that MyHeritage added a few days ago.
The records being indexed means you can search them by name.
On April 1, MyHeritage became the first commercial company to publish a full collection of the 1950 U.S. Census images. Additional releases are expected in the weeks ahead until the index is complete. To stay updated on all MyHeritage 1950 Census releases, check their U.S. Census content hub and 1950 Census page.
According to John Reid on his blog, Anglo-Celtic Connections, Ancestry appears to be indexing the states in the same order, but is a wee bit behind, in part because they are indexing more fields, including occupation.
