Born in Titusville, New Brunswick in 1937, she was the daughter of Arthur James and Mae (Provan) Floyd.

Ms. Cusak was a professional genealogist for many years, researching the families and resources of Kings County and Saint John County.

She had also been an elementary school teacher.

From 1998 to 2017, she wrote more than 400 newspaper articles about resources for family history research and history in her home province. Many of her articles can be found on the website she created many years ago.

Ms. Cusak’s impact on New Brunswick genealogical research is also evident in the books she wrote. WorldCat lists about 20 publications she authored in the 1980s and 1990s.

People commenting on her death on the Saint John, New Brunswick Genealogy Facebook group said, “Ruby was one of a kind for her clues, research and connecting people,” “I learned a lot from reading her columns,” and “So much knowledge. She was a treasure.”

Ms. Cusak is survived by her husband, two daughters, and six grandchildren.

Her obituary was published in the Saint John Telegraph-Journal.
