Lots of historic Canadian newspapers added to Newspapers.com, including the Montreal Star

Newspapers.com has quietly digitized many Canadian newspaper collections, including 110 years of Canada’s largest newspaper back in the day — the Montreal Star — and made them available for subscribers to search.

In 2019, there were about 90 Canadian newspapers on Newspapers.com. Today, there are more than three times that amount.

During the past several months, major newspapers Newspapers.com has added include:

The Kingston Whig-Standard (Ontario), 1849-2014
The Halifax Herald (Nova Scotia), 1880-1905
The Chronicle Herald (Nova Scotia), 2007-2012
The Halifax Evening Mail (Nova Scotia), 1894-1930
Montreal Star, 1869-1979

Now, there are 333 newspapers — large and small — in the Canadian collection, and this is a collection that will continue to grow. You can also browse the Canadian newspapers by province, publication, and date to see what is available.
