Nova Scotia births for 1920 — they’re coming

Like grandparents waiting for their first grandchild, a number of genealogists are impatiently waiting for the online release of Nova Scotia civil births for 1920, wondering if it’s going to happen any minute. In pre-pandemic times, these records would have been made available on the provincial archives’ website by August.

Nova Scotia Archives yesterday provided an update on the collection on their Facebook page:

“Thank you everyone for your patience as we continue to process and digitize the 1920 Birth records. Between months working from home and a change to the format of the records themselves, we’re behind our usual release goal. But they are coming! In the meantime, many of the 1970 Death records are still available to be transcribed — we would really appreciate your help capturing as much information as possible.”

The 1970 death records still to be transcribed can be found on Nova Scotia Archives’ website.
