The Genealogical Association of Nova Scotia (GANS) has launched a new collection of local history books in their online gift shop, both straightforward histories and historical novels.
Topics include genealogical research in Nova Scotia, Black Loyalists, Highland settlers and women, WWI letters, Acadians, and “Scottish Gaelic you need to curse, swear, drink, smoke, and fool around.”
On its website, GANS says, “These books can give the reader more context about the social character of the Nova Scotian society of the past than can be gained from genealogical records alone.”
If this new collection proves popular, the association will add more books.
