Virtual BIFHSGO conference on Ireland, female ancestors, and DNA begins September 19

There’s still a bit of time left to register for the British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa’s (BIFHSGO) virtual conference that takes place from Sunday, September 19 to Sunday, September 26.

The conference theme is Irish Lines and Female Finds: Exploring Irish records, female ancestors and genetic genealogy.

There’s a terrific international lineup of speakers: Mia Bennett, Gerald Corcoran, Martin Curley, Brian Donovan, Dr. Janet Few, Mags Gaulden, Dr. Edmund Gilbert, Maurice Gleeson, Roz McCutcheon, Prof. Mark McGowan, Chris Paton, Gena Philibert-Ortega, Dr. Jim Ryan, and Kyla Ubbink.

For those of us who enjoy the in-person mingling with fellow genealogists between lectures, BIFHSGO has created two virtual Conference Connect sessions to help recreate the get-togethers.

The Conference Connect sessions are an opportunity for registrants to visit one of several breakout rooms, each covering a conference theme — Irish records, female ancestors and genetic genealogy — where experienced researchers will be available to share their knowledge and exchange ideas with the registrants. These sessions are included with all registrations.

There will also be two Exhibitor Connect sessions to chat with exhibitors about their products and services.

The conference registration fee is $45. Recordings of the 15 lectures will be available for two weeks afterward.
