Tribute to the late Dave Hunter, founder of Prince Edward Island genealogy resource, The Island Register

In its series, What a Life, CBC reports on Dave Hunter, who created The Island Register, the go-to message board for genealogists researching their Prince Edward Island ancestry. Mr. Hunter, who was also a huge collector of vintage telephones, passed away in July.

Gordon Furness told CBC, “(The Island Register) has a lot of historical links to it from passenger lists from ships that have come here, to ships that were built here on PEI, genealogical files from different families from all over the Island.”

The Island Register remains one of the top resources for anyone researching their family history on PEI.

As a tribute to Mr. Hunter, his family will preserve the website in its current state for the foreseeable future. No further updates will be made.
