One of my favourite speakers Jen Baldwin yesterday gave a 45-minute Facebook Live presentation about Loyalists and the American Revolution, and the recording is available to watch on Findmypast’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.
About 7,000 Loyalists went to Britain, more than half fled to Canada and settled in present-day Ontario, Quebec and Maritimes, about 3,000 Black Loyalists moved to Canada, and nearly 1,200 moved a second time to Sierra Leone, Africa or Botany Bay, Australia.

Ms. Baldwin, who is a data acquisition manager at Findmypast, explores the history of Loyalists, talks about the resources that are available on Findmypast and elsewhere, and provides a list of recommended reading and listening.
She also shares the news that an index of Black Nova Scotians, 1784-1837, will be coming soon on FindmyPast.
