John Grenham’s son discovers genealogy research is like solving a big puzzle

The COVID-19 pandemic has led the son of Irish genealogist and author John Grenham to take up genealogy — so maybe there’s hope for the rest of us whose children are less-than-enthusiastic about their family history.

For many years, Eoin Grenham didn’t like genealogy, but the pandemic has forced him to look for something else to do because he can’t be a gymnastics coach right now.

He figured out what many of us have known for years: “There is a lot of fun in just figuring things out, solving problems. This is what genealogy is, finding things and solving big family puzzles.”

Check out his first blog post, So, who’s rolling their eyes at the mention of genealogy now, eh*, and a link to several 10 to 20-minute YouTube videos on Irish research he put together with his father. Note that the title of the blog post was written by his father.
