Québec Genealogical eSociety announces English and French conference program

The Québec Genealogical eSociety’s first virtual conference is the largest in the province to date and it will take place over four days, from January 14 to 17, 2021. It features some of the most well-respected genealogists, historians, and researchers in the province.

In all, there are 11 sessions in English and 12 in French.

Topics include:

  • Filles du roi (King’s daughters)
  • DNA
  • Notarial records
  • How to decipher old handwriting
  • 19th century Irish in Quebec asylums
  • Quebec’s Scots
  • Land ownership
  • Fichier Origine website
  • Acadians in Quebec
  • Understanding name variations
  • Exploring the Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec website

Not only is this a bilingual conference, but registration is different from other online genealogy events, and this may suit a number of family historians.

Registration is à la carte, meaning attendees can sign up for just one presentation or several. Each session is CDN$10 or less than US$8.

The presentations will be recorded and available only to people who paid for a registration, but couldn’t attend the live session.

Registration is scheduled to open Monday, November 16.

The full program and speaker bios are in the 2021 Conference drop-down menu at the top of the Québec Genealogical eSociety’s website.
