The archives and records of Red Deer, Alberta have been moved to a new location, and the facility is scheduled to open mid-November.
The downtown centre, located in the former Only Women’s Fitness building at 4725 49th St., brings together the Red Deer & District Archives, currently housed at Red Deer Museum + Art Gallery, and the City of Red Deer records and information department.
Darren Kuz, information management supervisor, told the Red Deer Advocate the archives regularly receives requests from the public, and it’s usually about family history.
The archives is the official repository of City of Red Deer records of enduring historical value. The archives also acquires records from numerous clubs, organizations, churches, businesses, individuals and families.
